Meenagaya Intercity Express train (No 6079) from Colombo to Batticaloa has derailed near a railway bridge close to Avukana railway station.

Locomotive (Class M2 626) and 6 carriages came off the track due to the accident.
Both up and down Udaya Devi Express trains will not operate today. (2019/10/22)
