The newly constructed Matara -Beliatta railway extension declared open to the public today morning at 9 am (2019/04/08). A special Class S12 powerset from Matara reached Beliatta railway station marking its maiden journey.
Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranathunga, Mangala Samaraweera and Nimal Siripala de Silva and Chamal Rajapaksa attended the event.
Tickets are priced at: First Class Rs. 120/=, Second Class Rs. 70/= and Third Class Rs. 35/=
It takes around 20 mins to travel between Matara and Beliatta by train.
